Bidston is a delightful township some 3 miles north west of Birkenhead. Bidston Hall and its grounds were owned by the Stanley family who became the Earls of Derby and enjoyed a long association with racing. Records show that racing first took place in the Cheshire village in 1921. The racecourse was situated on Bidston Moss, close to Wallasey Pool, the Golf course and the London, Midland and Scottish railway line. Bidston Station was in close proximity to the course and allowed racing enthusiasts from far and wide to attend the races. The first meeting took place on Saturday 29th October 1921 and was organised by the Isle of Man Racing Association. The final meeting took place on Saturday 14th August 1926.

Today the ground on which the former racecourse stood is covered by Bidston Golf Club which first opened in 1913 and has gradually been extended over its 100 year history.
